  13. havent faced any issues so far myself....'samsung galaxy s' users who got the update complained about sms component bombing out

    ReplyDelete
  14. that would be 'the application Message (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

    fix is >
    a. delete all messages to get rid of message
    or
    b. change locale to English US
    or
    c. reboot phone
    or
    d. use myphoneexplorer to send messages

  21. Hi,
Very nicely written ..but i have some doubts.

Does ur firmware have the GT-I5801 logo? (i meant is it modified to remove the required files)
Does it have the lagfix in it? or i need to install it separately?
What about the GPS fix? need to install it separately?

    ReplyDelete
  22. its a GT-i5800 firmware, lag and gps are totally fixed - the performance is amazing with froyo

    ReplyDelete
  23. do i need to root again after Froyo for live wallpapers?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanx a lot for ur method.. its was smooth .. but used XXJPA instad. XXJPB is having hell lot of battery problem. JPA is awesome... try that..

    ReplyDelete
  25. @benaam - yes rooting is required again - but the earlier method posted may not work.

@satyam - i didnt have any battery problems with XXJPB

    ReplyDelete
  26. @san .. iam still getting not that much backup with froyo (even with JPA).. its 12 hours and phone is full down.can u suggest something?

    ReplyDelete
  27. hmm..turn off GPRS - hold the power button to bring up 'Phone Options' - hit 'Data Network Mode' it will turn off APN - so that unnecessary battery consumption is fixed.
play around with screen time outs, brightness and running programs - keep the least running with no live wallpapers.
this will get ur battery working those extra hours.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @san.. thanx a lot for ur reply. i was actually planning for another round of flashing. but will chk the points u hv suggested. i used the phone for almost 3-4 cotinuous hours yesterday with gprs on to download and install apps. so i guess it consumed a lot of battery power. so giving it another cpl of days with ur advised tweaks.
currently screen time out 2 minutes.. brightness 40%..not much applications, but not running any app killer.

    ReplyDelete
  29. sure do let me know how it works out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi san.
some stupid thing happened just now. i was updating my contacts and just discovered that my contacts page is not displaying properly. i am just giving a photo link and explaining the matter.
    http://www.gsmarena.com/showpic.php3?sImg=reviewsimg/samsung-i5800/review/sshots/gsmarena_013.jpg
in above pic u can very well see the alphabet (A-Z)for quick scrolling on the contacts page. now while opening my contacts i can only se part of it , like
    A
    .
    C
    D
    .
    F
    G
    .
    I
    J
some letters like B E H are missing. can u check on ur part whether its showing properly or not? if yes can you help me out? this froyo is freaking me out .. thanx in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  31. relax - it only means that there aren't any contacts with those names.....

    ReplyDelete
  32. nooo.. thr are number of contacts with those letters...

    ReplyDelete
  33. just compared with my phone, if there are lesser contacts it does not allocate an alphabet...doing some research....

    ReplyDelete
  34. ok .. waiting for ur feedback.. but it has negated alphabet in some series i guess.. A*CD*FG*IJ... every third letter starting from B... :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. hey i have got the solution but cant apply properly.. please take a look at it...

    ReplyDelete
  36. hey how long will this take I waited 30 minutes on my old phone and bricked it?

    ReplyDelete
  37. depends if you followed all steps - most people get it done properly - something might have gone wrong somewhere :(

    ReplyDelete

  39. I5800BOJH1 for I5801 (August 2010) is the latest unfortunately

  40. hi san good afternoon. had some eventful day with my G# and JPA.everything was good except battery back up..till i got pissed off with an incident faced in the morning. my phone was on charge overnight and i unplugged it in the morning. i am in office right now and suddenly i got a notification of "battery full ,unplug your phone".. where i have unplugged it almost 3 hrs before that.... i am totally pissed off with the issue.. do u have any idea bro .. plz help me out.. otherwise i have to consider downgrading my phone with JG6. is thr any other method to downgrade or the same used for froyo??

    ReplyDelete
  41. all right satyam chill, that battery full, unplug happened to me as well - but once only and i fixed that will cleaning up unnecessary startup items and giving it a reboot - this happened almost 3 weeks ago and hasnt come back again.
this has nothing to do with battery - its the indicator / component within android which is getting choked due to app proc overload....

    ReplyDelete
  42. @san.. thanx a lot again for your suggestion.. i am keeping my froyo :) .. but just planning for a wipe battery stat as i am hearing it is good for battery giving some error reading .. will certainly give feedback on ur blog.. thanx for all the support and advise..

    ReplyDelete

  53. hey..dude am so happy to upgrade to froyo..but i cant..it avoids warrenty and etc..can u suggest me the correct way

    ReplyDelete
  54. well take this imaginary scale >

balance - warranty on one side
    -------------------------------
balance - exciting froyo + faster response + app2sd + tethering + host of other goodies

+ ODIN can always be used to move back to plain vanilla eclair 2.1 anytime - by picking an older firmware :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. hey done update on phone, fine complete, but it wont let me get in to txt messages just keeps crashing

    ReplyDelete
  56. is it multilanguage? Does it support greek?

    ReplyDelete
  57. um yeh i think it is, i from new zealand

    ReplyDelete
  58. if your having sms issues, install Handcent SMS and make it primary.

    ReplyDelete
  59. by changing to older version(2.1)..it becomes genuine haan..??really man this eclair version sucks..everything is slow...

another question--->will samsung will release froyo version for this mobile..??

    ReplyDelete
  60. well at present Galaxy 3 is on Eclair - so yes that is how it should work - going back to Eclair and taking to service center should work just fine.

Froyo tests are still going on and i dont think Samsung is as much interested in getting a 2.2 to it devices- its rather working on getting GingerBread out the 1GHz phones (galaxy s). Premium phones = premium updates and geniune concern.

    ReplyDelete
  61. most of the people telling they will release froyo for this version..i saw ur previous posts,in that u have mentioned that this froyo update belongs to I5800 so wats the differnce between this 2 mobiles..??plz dont take me wrong..

    ReplyDelete
  62. Just go to to samfirmware.com n get i5801 firmware n then update

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thank you for posting these instructions. I upgraded my I5801 to I5800XXJPF firmware. Its been working perfectly fine so far (about 10 hrs since upgrading). I checked all features except GPS. (I dont use that). From my very short experience with Froyo, I feel battery life seems to be better in it than Eclair.

  66. Hi All,11-Apr-11 in India
Samsung has already released official Froyo update for Galaxy 3 through Kies almost a week back early around 10-Apr-11.
Official Samsung India Froyo update on Galaxy 3 is awesome. It took me just 20-25 minutes through latest Kies MTNL broadband connection at 1 AM to upgrade. There was no need to restore contacts, applications or SMS,. Kies is beautiful software to upgrade. New widgets and new bundled apps are part of this major release. Please go for it. Never look back…Please follow the blog:
