TV Series Pilot Review : The Blacklist

THE BLACKLIST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Premise

When former government agent and fugitive Raymond "Red" Reddington surrenders to the FBI, he makes them an offer they can't refuse. On the mysterious condition that he work only with recent Quantico graduate Liz Keen, he agrees to help put away criminals from a list that he compiled, which includes politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists -- starting with long-thought-dead terrorist Ranko Zamani. As the two pursue their quarry, Red forces the rookie profiler to think like a criminal to see the bigger picture.

The look of the show

Genre
Crime Action Thriller

Star Cast
James Spader the man to watch out, Harry Lenix is a familiar face.

Production value
The show looks good, the setup, the non-cgi explosions and choppers are good sight.

Acting
Not really an acting showcase tv show, more of run there, catch him /them episode.

Story
It's fun, tons of mystery, but looks like there is gonna be lot of repeating episodes, Mr.Most Wanted takes out a terrorist name per episode and they go hunting. Pilot reminded very much like Jodie Foster the newbie taking on Hannibal Lecture the bad guy.

Season Watch-ability
I don't think you would want to keep your commitment for the entire season just based on this pilot.

Cliff Hanger Endings
Famously used by 24 and Prison Break - looks like this series will use it too.

The problem
The over-pretty female lead character, just not believable as a FBI agent, yet. Feels like a Disney girl in 24'esque series.

The good
James Spader - doing the Hannibal Lectre smart sophisticated genius bad guy.

Overall Pilot Rating : 3.5/5
